How can i improve gas mileage on a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9l v8?

i have recently purchased my first truck and vehicle i bought a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9L v8 4x4 and wanna give it some more power and get some better gas mileage as well does any one have any tips for me? i would really really appreciate it and what would be the best projects to buy and i want a somewhat loud exhaust when i have the money
