How can I hide a belly button ring for sports?

I take karate. I get hit in the stomach sometimes and I really don't want to when I just got it so it's all sore and I can't take it out. Is there anything I can do to protect it?

I also can't tell my karate instructor for reasons I don't whish to get into.
