Three years ago I received a ticket for driving without proof of insurance. Being the idiot that I am, I put it off, and just recently paid the ticket about a year ago.
A few months after paying, I received a letter in the mail saying that I was going to be revoked for driving without insurance. I was obviously shocked. I called the DMV who told me to be reinstated I needed to pay $750!!!!!! Which I Absolutely do not want to do!!!
I called the court where I originally got, and paid for, the ticket and they instructed me to go to come speak with the Distract Attorney. Needless to say.. he was less than helpful.
So I called a lawyer. He said to try and get information from the insurance company stating what days my ex had insurance with them, and to take proof to the DMV showing that the day I received the ticket the car was insured.
I was great with that idea since all else had failed. So I called... because of privacy matters they couldn't release the information. They called my ex to ask if I had permission and he said no!!
Now what should I do? I dont wanna pay for something that was more than likely filed incorrectly by the court. Nn one seems to have an original copy of the ticket. (Not even the court!!) I even went as far as contacting my assemblymen... nothing!!!
HELP. I cant get to work... take my daughter to daycare. I dont really know what to do, or where to go from here. :-( Grr.
