How can I go about getting an agent for publishing a book in Ontario?

I've written a children's book, and have a million other ideas in my head. I've written children's stories for as long as I can remember and I've always aspired to get one published. I have one that I want to send, but I need to get an agent. (I tried to send it in a few years ago, the publishing company said they don't take unsolicited material). So how can I go about getting an agent?

I live in Toronto, Ontario if that helps.
