How can i get windows media to pick up video?

I just got a new laptop, so im a little new to Windows Vista. Anyways i have some movies saved onto an external hard-drive but Windows Medi;0 a on my new laptop won't pick up the video just the sound. Help please!
 
It could be that it doesn't have the right codec or the codec is corrupted. I have K-Lite codec pack install on my computer.

Also, if you got a new laptop recently, you can get Windows Vista upgraded to Windows 7, which is the newest Windows OS. It's much, much better than Windows Vista. The upgrade is free! Ask your reseller about it.
