How can i get rid of internet package from tmobile?

I have Tmobile & my 2 year contract is over, im looking into getting a g2 but it requires a data package, is there anyway i can get rid of the data package and go back to my basic payments now without internet on this phone? possibly contacting tmobil and seeing if they can take it off, because i do not need internet whats so ever and its really expensive but i really like the g2.
