How can I get over this guy from camp until next year?

We weren't a camp couple or anything but I started talking to this guy that I thought was cute halfway through the last week of camp and we talked a bit more each day until the last night of camp when he began expressing that he was interested by being very sweet and a gentleman. We tried to sneak out to hook up, but counselors wouldn't allow it. I'm sure he was like any other guy who just wanted to get some action before camp was over, but I was flattered that he chose me because so many other girls were interested in him. After many failed attempts to sneak out, we ended up having to forget about it. The next morning we talked and he told me that even though it didn't go as planned he still had fun with me. We said goodbye and he gave me a kiss while counselors yelled at us to stop. I have him as a friend on facebook and we had a message string going but I didn't reply for about a week and began to get over him. I finally replied to his message and we've been talking for the past week. I still think about him quite a bit because I don't have any other guys in my life that I like back at the moment and because I've had a lot of time to think and reflect lately. It's been almost a month since camp ended. Should I stop talking to him for a bit until I sign up for camp again to ask him what session he's going to? He lives far enough away that there's no way I'll see him until next summer. When we see each other next summer we will both be 16 if that makes any difference in your answer (although I'll be almost 17 and he'll have just turned 16). It's really annoying because I don't like any guys where I live but I really like him as a person. He seems real, unlike many guys out here in california. Thanks!
