How can I get noticed in the music business?

I've been told I have a good singing voice and my friend wants me to work with him in the studio on one of his songs, but I'm really serious about music and I don't want to ruin any chances I might have.

How can I get noticed properly? Do you think I should say yes to working with him?

ermm you should go for it and record the song, will give you experience and can see how you sound.

Alternatly record a song and send it to record companies, or get a myspace page, worked for lilly allen x
 
You need determination mostly. and to have real talent.
Having contacts always seems to help too, I used to be in a band and we found that recording a short demo and sending it to record companies got us noticed.
 
You could star singing at coffe shops during open mic. Sometimes there are people from record companys and stuff there. Or you could put some of your music on your myspace. Then you ask people to be your friend and to listen to your music.

i understand what you mean but most people would say any way to get noticed is good, you dont really get to pick "the proper way" to get noticed. like i said i understand what you mean but it would seem this would be a good start, dont see how it could mess up your chances, but of course, anything can happen, thats why you dont get to pick, just go with the opportunities you have.
