How can I get my facebook chat to work again?

So whenever I try to send someone a message on facebook chat it just says sending forever and never sends. The facebook chat used to work so I don't know what happened. My computer isn't that old but it isn't the newest either. Can anyone help me on how to get my facebook chat to work again?
