How can I get my car's 4-way flasher switch working right?

My car has a push-in hazard light switch. It clicks in and out kinda like a pen would, and when in the lights flash. Anyway, recently it got stuck "on" and I was like omg how embarrassing, but I pulled on the switch a bit and it came back out and worked normal again.

Today it seems like it's in the "in / on" position, only the lights aren't flashing. When I push in the switch, the 4-ways DO flash, but only until I release the button. I didn't want to mess with it too much in case it gets stuck for good.

I was thinking would a few quick squirts of WD-40 work in cases like this? Is that stuff safe for electrical connections? I don't wanna short something and/or cause my airbag to pop in the process. I just don't know what to do, short of taking the car to get $erviced.
The switch is by itself on the dashboard. Click it in for 4-ways, click it out to turn 'em off.
