How can i get more fuel economy and horsepower out of a 4.3L Chevy V6?

I just bought a 1993 Chevy 1500, its a stick shift and it has the 4.3L v6, im looking for cheaper ways to get more fuel economy and if possible more horsepower too, i was thinking of putting a chip in it, what are some good chips and what should i avoid? What else can i do for power? dual exhaust?
