Find a local gallery that accepts freelance shows and have them hang your work. Price it well though as most galleries take a fee, usually around 30%. Think about the cost of materials, ink, film, chemistry, paper, time, and double it Then, tack on the 30%. See if it looks like a reasonable price. Never price something extremely high just because you don't want to sell it. Just simply write NFS (not for sale) if it means that much to you, and if its something that you can not reproduce.

From what i've learned, you don't just wake up, and become a professional photographer. It takes years of learning, and practice. You read books, take classes, and get hands-on in the field, it's quite a timely process. In the US, there are many places that offer photography courses, enroll, that is a good start for you.
