How can I get back into shape for track (sprinting) ?

I was on the track team last summer for the first time and I think I did alright. Ive been doing more leg exercises as well as biking on an exercise cycle (doesnt move).
I thought my cardio and speed would be decent until yesterday when I sprinted for the first time since the summer. I was TERRIBLE at it, my heart was pounding and I got tired very fast. My speed had reduced significantly too.

What can I do to improve how long I can last as well as my speed for the 100m sprint?
Do I need to do exercises like squats and lunges for my legs? Or just actual running?
