3 years ago, when i decided to move to another state, i left my vehicle in front of my rental property on a public street with no meters or restrictions. i had a family member that wanted the vehicle and was set to pick it up 6 days after i left it. when she arrived the vehicle was either stolen or towed away. for 2 weeks, i called the state troopers trying to find out where might i find my vehicle and i was put on hold for at least 30 minutes every single time until i gave up calling. i didnt want the vehicle and had no intentions on persuing the whereabouts.
little did i know about having to return the tags. i was young, yes, it was all my fault. so, i called to see what i owed and they said over $3,000. wow!! does that have to be paid before i can register a vehicle in that state alone or will this be a problem that follows me.
