How can I fix my corrupt 512MB memory card for my Palm Treo?

I am sorry that this is long but my problem is not complicated.
I use the camera in my Palm Treo for recording long surveillance videos. About two weeks ago I tested the device to see if it could record a video until the memory was used up. Using a 512MB memory card I set the camera on video and let it record until the memory was used up. The resulting video duration was 2:43:54 with 0:00:01 remaining. When I turned it on later (after it shut itself off after the device finished recording) the video had been stored and I successfully used HotSync to upload it to my computer even though the error message "Recording has stopped because the storage is full, or there was an error with the storage. Your video might not have been saved" was displayed. There was nothing wrong with this test video.

Today, I tried to create my first real surveillance video using the same 512MB card. When I turned it on later to upload the video to my computer, I still got the error message but this time the video was not there. Instead, when I looked in the media storage of the device, my old test video (the 2:43:54 video) was still there even though I made the appropriate action to delete it.

Now upset that my video did not make it, I again made the appropriate action to delete any media on the card from the device and then I started it recording again. After about twenty minutes, the device stopped recording, displayed the error message, and the video was not saved.

Immediately after, when I went back to the camera mode, I now see that the device no longer sees my memory card, even if I remove and insert it.

I am somewhat familiar with this problem so I suspect the culprit to be the memory card. I know of these Windows disk fixes called "Error Checking" and "Defragmentation". I am not sure if these will help me but please do explain to me how I can fix my memory card. I need a solution within two days so I will award thumbs up and best answer.
