how can i fix and re-waterproof my hiking boots?

while at a scouting camp, i branded my leather, waterproof hiking boots. the brand touched some rubber on my boot and burnt through, leaving a hole that goes partially into the material of the boot. does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix and re-waterproof my boots
 
I wouldn't take the chance of the repair coming undone midway through a hike because then you're really stuck, especially if you're in the middle of nowhere. Woman I was walking with a few months ago had her boot disintegrate (the sole fell off) with about three miles to go, took hours and her feet were very sore afterwards.

Might not be what you want to hear but the best thing to do is get some new ones.
