How can I find the correct wires on my Ford Laser to fit a radio please as they have...

...all been mixed up? I recently bought a Ford Laser 1985 and now want to fit a new stereo system. The problem is this, the previous owner has made some god awful mess of the wiring in this area. They have fitted an alarm that is now off as it didn't work and they also did a pretty bad job fitting an old stereo. I just want to clean up all of this but I don't want to short anything or drain the battery. Does anyone have any pointers to finding the correct wires (Live etc)? I know these are normally red and yellow. Maybe some one has been through the same thing.

If the factory harness is still intact, you can get a harness that will plug into it from here http://www.metraonline.com

Wire the new stereo harness to the adapter harness and you're good to go.
