how can i encourage my son to learn to ride his bike?

hes 6 and has managed to ride in a straight line briefly but cant push off or stop he doesn't like trying and seems to give up easily yet when he has managed to ride a bit he laughs and enjoys it. his friends all ride their bikes fine
 
I wouldn't push him. He'll only learn only when he's ready and wants to.
My grand-daughter was the same. She rode in a straight line and nothing else for months and refuse to try anything else. Suddenly one day she came and said she wants to learn it properly. She rode the bicycle within a few weeks!

Give him time. He is still young.
