How can I dye my multicoloured hair at home?

I have been getting blonde highlights and darker brown lowlights in my hair for quite some time. The last time was about 3 months ago. I really can't afford the $120.00 or so it takes to get it done professionally any more and want to dye my hair all one colour. My real colour is light brown. With the other colours in my hair what should I do at home to get all of my hair a golden/mid brown colour?
