How can i download iPod touch only apps? when only iPad and iPhone is available in the app istore?

Or is it both/ one or the other.....???? im a lil bit on the tech savvy side but i know nothing of apple as this is my first apple product ever (the last time i even touched one was the apple LLE [lle] in elementary school playing Oregon Trail) i saw that someone asked this question before but they did not get a coherent answer
