I've known since January that I want to attend Washington State University in the fall. I was led to believe that my mom supported this decision 100%, but I recently found out differently (through a friend she confides in). She would rather have me attend the University of Northern Colorado, which is an in-state school. I received scholarships to both schools, so money is not an issue. In such a situation, I can't help but feel as though my mom is trying to keep me on a short leash. For the past couple of years, I've felt as though someone else was in control of my life. I want the opportunity to do something solely for myself that I can be proud of, but I don't feel I can do such so close to home. Whenever I try to discuss this matter with my mom, we end up in an argument. How can I talk to her without starting a war?
