How can I "discipline" my kitten?

I have a generally sweet 4 month old male kitten, and he just will not "listen." I know kittens are naturally playful and curious. But, the more I "discipline" him, the more he does things he shouldn't (jump into trashcan, bite hands & toes, chew through wires, attack my face with his paws). And now he's becoming angry with me and won't cuddle or be near me. I am very afraid that I'm turning a kitten with a wonderful, gentle personality into an angry cat.

He does have worms, giardia, and coccidia (sp?), and is being treated for it. So, getting a playmate for him is not an option right now. He LOVES water, and is not easily distracted by loud noises (i.e., rattling a can of pennies.). And if I push him down or tap his nose, he bites hard with his ears back and wont let go. Otherwise he's a purring, cuddling kitten!! What do I do?
