I kinda dislike the fact that the 4x4 system on the new escapes are all automatic now i.e previous models you were able to turn it on/off via a knob in the dash
don't get me wrong, I love 4x4 option, just only when I need it lol, I rarely do any city driving (mostly just highway) but the odd time I will and it hurts my gas, i would like to be able to turn it only when I need, not when the computer "thinks" it should be on
I've heard of people taking out the fuse for the 4WD system to disable it and just putting it back in when they need it just not for my exact model though...
just wondering if this is something that can be done and the big question is - would it work?
thanks
I dont want to get rid of the 4x4, i love having the option and I do have uses for it (I go skiing in areas where roads are not cleared in a timely manner for example)
i'd like to be able to "hook it back up" so to speak when I do need it, but if i'm doing a majority of city driving i want to be able to "turn it back off"
