How can I correct my golf swing so my drive doesn't hook so far to the right?

I'm not really a golfer or anything, I just like to hot the driving range every now and then. One thing that I always struggle with is when I strike the ball, it always hooks/draws violently to the right. I mean, if the ball start down the centre, it will take end up taking its first bounce near the right edge of the driving range, so its hooking a good 40-50m I'd say. Anyone know how to correct this? I've never had any lessons or anything, I just decided to try the driving range one day, so I'm quite certain it's my technique.

Unless you're a leftie, it's called a slice. It's impossible to diagnose what you're doing wrong or offer a great solution when we can't see your swing. Slicing is the usual problem for people when they first began playing and many struggle with it forever. Your clubface is open at impact which imparts a sidespin on the ball causing the slice. Then players typically try to fix this by swinging more to the left which just puts more sidespin on the ball making the problem worse.

Well, to correct the "slice" you could try things like:
1. Being More Square To Target
2. Slightly Closing Club Face
3. Drop "Dominate Foot" Back 2 inches
4. Stand Up Straighter

I had the same problem and the way i fixed it was to move the ball more to the middle of my stance like you would do with irons that will help strike the ball at the apex of the swing. And i also stopped trying to "kill" the ball and that helped with control also. So try moving the ball and slow down your swing to gain more control and let the club do the work. Good luck
