How can I convince parents to get me a cell phone?

Hey I'm Elizabeth, and I'm 13 years old. Just a day ago my last friend without a cell phone got one...now I'm one of two people in my grade that doesn't have one...and I"m so sick of it. I'm not kidding, I literally cry about it every day. every party I go to people are texting most of the time. A countless amount of people ask me daily with a shocked expression...you don't have a phone??? My one friend even begged me...for her birthday present she wants me to get a phone. I've tried to explain this to my parents...but they just go on about how people have no food in africa and stuff. Yes I know I sound really selfish right now, and I'm sorry...I need to vent a little. I don't have much either. I don't have ipod, much internet access, or privacy. I don't game consoles, or much tv viewing. This is literally the only thing I want. My parents think that I can get one when I"m 18, in college with a job.Then I am allowed to pay for one with my own money. even if I had the mmoney...I can't get one. Even when I'm 18, I can only get tracfone (some really cheap phone that only grandmothers use). How can I convince my parents to get me phone????
