How can I convince my parents to get me an verizon iphone for my birthday?

Hi, I will be turning 14 in march, and am trying to convince my parents to get me an iphone since verizon just got the iphone 4. I have had the same phone for 4 years and it is continually messing up. When I try to take pictures the screen goes green, while texting my phone turns on and off, and while trying to call someone the phone shuts off. My family can afford the iphone, but my mother is unsure about getting me one. How can I convince her?
Oh, and for anybody that says "make good grades and do your chores" I already have done that for years.
 
even if your family can afford the iphone, that doesn't mean they'll be financially intelligent to give in to your request.you're still 14 and getting an iphone ( are you even earning your own living?) isn't practical. since your old phone must be broken, then better get a new one less pricey than the iphone...the reason your mother might be having 2nd thoughts is because it wouldn't be right to give one to you..if i'm wrong then she'd have given in to your request by now. even if somebody can afford something expensive doesn't mean that he'll go and spend the money..your fmily might be able to afford it but have you ever thought how hard it is to earn money? even if you have heaps of it, you'll hesistate to buy an iphone only if you've experienced how hard it is to earn money
