i have had my dog for almost 2 years now but i made its home out side. i want to start housebreaking it and making it an indoor dog. How can i convert my dog in to an indoor dog?

I did that with our puppy before it died... He was used to running around outside... we would bring him in let him run around the house and we had a special place for the dog, like his bed, water and food... we would take him outside about 10 15 minutes after he ate and reward him with treats...about a week later we would give him treats then send him outside... after about another week he would sit by the door when he had to go potty... (our cat does this also)... at night they get taken out about twice a night...

if your worried about your stuff... if you have children you should be ok... if you dont you might have to set up "no doggie" zones... the bathrooms, kitchen... you know...

first of, what kind of dog do you have? there are some dogs that are really for the outside type. So, if ever, you take it inside, for like one week in a cage, crate, then make if go outside only for potty.First to go to your mind if its big! if its big, its outside, BUT not the tottaly outside thing, like behind your gates? nowayyy

hope it helps!

Well, this is refreshing...a person who wants their dog to become part of the family. Just bring your dog in and give him a bath and start taking him out only to do his business every hour or so in the beginning. Positive rewards when he goes outside and lots of love and praise. Maybe crate training would help but if your dog has had the run of the yard maybe he won't like being confined. You could try it though. Get a book on potty training. Good Luck!
