How can i connect my laptop to my TV?

I have Presario CQ61 303sv laptop(COMPAQ HP). I have connected my laptop with my desktop's moniter with a port which was built in in my desktop's moniter. Its a 15 pin port. Can i connect it with my TV? I've a S-video port in my TV and many other ports(i have set my audio but i cant set video from my laptop to my TV) it would be very thankful if any one helps me. Also there's a port in my laptop between ethernet and USB(rectangle shaped somehow) i dont know whats it for tell me plz
