LEDs use DC current and normally at a fairly low voltage. You would need some sort of controller to make it pulsate or change colors in sync with music. Just connecting it to a pre-out (ie: subwoofer out) on a receiver will not work.
Well I dont know what exact products you are using so its gonna be a "ballpark" answer. If your reciever has a pre-out or pre-amp out or something that outputs an unamplified signal and your led strips are low power (like computer modding grade) then you can use it with one of these devices called a PulseVu 2X. It's designed for the xbox 360 but you can change the connections for your use. You can use the pre out leads to serve as the sound input. The tricky thing is I dont know about your system so I have to stop here with the PulseVu 2X.
