How can I change the OS of my PC from Microsoft Windows XP Professional to Windows

XP SP2? I just found out from the technician who installed the OS to my PC that the XP Pro that he installed is not a legal one. Now, that I have the original XP Pro SP2, can I just installed it directly without causing any conflict on the softwares and drivers that were previously installed? Should I click "upgrade" when I inserted the XP Pro SP2 installer?

Please help! I'm just cautious on any steps that I'll make since I'm not that familiar with these things. I would appreciate if I would be given detailed step by step instructions on what and how to do this.
