How can I change my T-Mobile phone to another account?

My t-mobile phone is on an account with my ex and I want to switch it to my parents' account. Does my ex(who is the primary account holder for my current plan) need to do anything with the account for me to transfer it over or can i simply go to a T-mobile store with my Dad(the primary holder for the new account) and transfer it?
 
You'll have to transfer it over . Since he's the primary account holder they won't let you make any changes unless your name is on the account as well . But it may be easier to just transfer it but I think you need the account number to the line to get transferred.
