take a paper bag and blow in and out slowly. sometimes bending over and slowley breathing helps

Also adding on the what the other person said, if you do not have a paper bag, cupping your hanRAB works too.

Try and focus on a steady breathing rate, not too fast or too slow...hard to do at first, but once you calm yourself down work on it.

Also, what I used to do was drink a lotttt of water because when you eat or drink you aren't breathing and you don't need to.

Also...make sure you are sitting up or standing with your shoulders back in a TALL posture. This opens up your chest so your lungs have more room to expand. Breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth. Go in a quiet room with the lights out and close your eyes and practice breathing at a steady pase. NOT too slow. NOT too fast.

Hope this helps!!!

Try breathing in through your nose like your smelling a flower. Hold it for a count of three then blow out slowly through your mouth like your blowing out a candle. Count to three again and breath in through your nose and so on. Continue this until you feel better. This will help regulate your breathing and counting will help get your mind off of the "scary" thoughts. It works for me !

I, too, suffer from panic attacks. They make me feel short of breath and like I'm having a heart attack.

I will often go for a walk, but there's also a yoga trick that might work for you. Block off one nostril by pressing a finger against the outside and breathe deeply through the other nostril, 10 seconRAB in, 10 seconRAB out. Then switch nostrils, back and forth. It's proven that this type of breathing will calm you. Simply breathing through your nose helps, but alternating nostrils helps even more.
