How can i boost my stamina and/or endurance?

ok, i'm on the track team at my school and we're are a really good team. every year they go down state (and win too). i'm a freshman and i'm a distance runner. my coach has me running the 1600 3200 and 4 x 800 and maybe the 4 x 400. i'm pretty good and i used to not get tired so easily. but now it seems like i'm loosing my stamina. i get tired a lot and don't put in as much effort as i used to. like today we ran all around the school up and down the stairs. (stairs killed me and i got sooo tired) plus i have shin splints. yelp?
