How can I become an intelligence officer in the Air Force?

I want to become an Intel Officer in the USAF. But I don't know which road to take to get there. I was thinking about applying to the Air Force Academy, or join an AFROTC in a college I am not sure of yet. I'm releatively fit, a keen observer, and the last time I checked I think my GPA was around 3.4. My Dad is in the Air Force himself, and I heard that if I apply at the academy, I get an automatic referall or something. Can any of you suggest what I can do to achieve my goal. All help is appreciated.
