How can i be 4 weeks pregnant if im just missing a cycle now, shoukdnt it be two weeks?

If my cycle was supposed to.start now and I got a positive hpt how does it calculate me at 4 weeks instead of 2? ?o they go off 38 week pregnancy or 40.. ?
