how can a dispute a collection on my credit history?

I am in the process of trying to buy my first home. I recently discovered that there is an unpaid cell phone bill that was in my name. its amounts to over a 1000 dollars. I found out it was my aunt who did this and I never had any idea about it until now. My credit score was good (not great) I have been working on building up my credit for awhile now. I was being approved for several different loans and then this bill showed up. It dropped my credit scores tremendously and now making it very difficult to qualify for a loan. How can I dispute this? Can I do it online? How does it work?
