How bad is my college life?

Hi, I am 19 years old, Freshmen in college, moved from the small city to the big city. Bacolod to Manila. Super expensive tuition, not learning anything, no friends, no social life, all work and no play. Bored, depressed, tired and stressed.

Based on one website, the college i go to is ranked No.52. While the school back home where I graduated was somewhere between 30-40. Going back home would be easier, where I can live a easy and pampered life. I was sent here to learn to be independent, on my own decision... should I go home or stay?

With all these details, How bad is my college life?
Also no girlfriend and I am a loner in college

Go home..
go to a college there trust me..
if you are depressed and not learning your not going to learn..
go home be happy and learn make it worth while
dont waste ur time! go back!

:)

I had the same experience myself and left where I was. I didn't go home to study however, I went somewhere even further away and am now having the best time of my life! Pick a university based on what you want out of life and don't necessarily go home because it is the safe option. I almost went straight back home because it was 'easier' but easier isn't better. But definitely get out of where you are and move somewhere that isn't a big university so that you can make friends more easily (it is what I did).

come home, your friends probably miss you back home, and it's a better school anyway. you have time to be independent. LOTS OF TIME. why not be a kid a little longer? that's the dream isn't it?

Why are you not learning anything, and are you sure that is really the case? Every student goes through ups and downs. It sounds like you are used to being spoiled, and that isn't really happening right now. It might be the best thing for you. if that is the case. This is, in fact, how you learn to be independent.

We tell our students' parents not to be too concerned about this kind of complaint - it happens to everyone, and 99% are over it in a couple of weeks. If you still feel this way after giving it full effort for a year, then maybe you were at the wrong school and should consider another. However, I don't think that going home is a good solution. It is one which will just reinforce your lack of maturity, and will not teach you anything.

My question of you would be, what can you do to fix the specific things which are making you unhappy. The rank of the college is not something which is affecting you, nor is the tuition, if you are used to being pampered. So you need to figure out how to fit a little fun in around your studying.
