How bad does a rim have to be bent to not be fixable?

because my rear rim was out of true, i tried fixing it, i think i made it worse. So i'm gonna bring it to my bike shop before i do more crap to it. I just don't want to bring it in and embarrass myself by bringing in a rim that a messed up...

so how badly does a rim have to be bent to be nt fixable?

its a double wall xc rim if that helps...
