How are megabytes charged for Verizon Wireless phones?

I just found out that my next bill for the phone is gonna be $100 more than usual. My mom is going to freak out when she sees how much the bill is. I checked online why it's so high. & It turns out that I used megabytes. I downloaded some games that said they were free. like FREE for 5 minutes. & ididn't know that downloading them will cost me. I know that 1 megabyte/ $1.99. but I bought the game Tetris. Will it cost me everytime I play it? I'm not downloading anything. just playing the game. so i wanted to know if it cost me every time I play tetris.
