How Are Honda Fits In Oklahoma Winters?

Can anyone who drives a Honda Fit tell me how they handle in Oklahoma winters?

I specify Oklahoma because the truth is (even confirmed from people who lived in other states) this state doesn't take care of their roads in bad weather. I can vouch, I've spent all my 8 drving years on these roads.

That being said, do they handle well? The tall shape worries me about the center of gravity, especially on ice. The ground clearance worries me also. Please also tell me how they do on side roads since that is my only route I can take to work. Note I'd be traveling in the metro, not any rural area.

Please also forget the idea of "just stay home." I have a job that, like a hospital, never closes regardless of weather. Before anyone suggests it, I absolutely do not want nor could I budget for an SUV. AWD is also out of my buget.

For whatever it's worth I'm interested in the base model w/automatic transmission. Thanks many!
