How are cooks in the military looked upon?

What do people think of people enlisting in the NAVY or any branch of military to be cooks? Do they look at them as being weak?

For Navy, you will be seen as a God. You will be making food that the personnel on the ship or sub wouldn't be able to see for months. You will be making great tasting food, and they will be extremely grateful.

EDIT: Cooks in other branches, however aren't seen in this way. There not seen as weak, it's just that they don't make the food they would be in the Navy.

If they are good cooks, they become very popular in the Navy. Bad cooks ... not so much. One of my room mates was a cook, and his nick name was "The World's Nicest Guy!"

When I was in, we got our bread dough in those big square cans, and at night one of the cooks would be assigned "night baker" duties. We all looked forward to one guy's rotation because, even though the dough came out of cans, his bread and sticky buns were far superior to the other guys!
