How accurate is the World Wildlife Foundation?

I just read a news story that tigers can be extinct in as little as 12 years citing a report from WWF.

So, how accurate is WWF? Is there an organization that checks it's research? Have they ever been wrong? Do they get audited, like by the United Way?

BTW I am upping my donation to WWF to save tigers.
