I think it was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek and not meant to be taken seriously.

Paris did put me off watching it initially, but give her her due, she wasn't as bad as I expected and I found the effects were really good.

Didn't scare me, but there were certain moments that made me squirm, which slasher movies have not made me do for a long time.

Awfull movie with awfull acting, not just Paris.

I liked the big melt scene at the end though, apart from that it was formulaic teen-orientated crap.

Well, if it wasn't awful, this movie wasn't good either. It was just standard slasher fare. Generally speaking, with these movies, you can tell who is going to get killed and who is going to survive (although there was one minor surprise in Wax). When this kind of movie has "ended," you generally know that it hasn't really ended as there is one more "shock" in store. Wax was no different, except that the real ending was tamer than most. I would not recommend buying the DVD, because there are many better horror films available. However, if there's nothing else in the video store, you might want to rent it; otherwise just wait for it to appear on TV in a few years time.

The scene where the girls fingertip is cut off seriously disturbs me and Im not usually disturbed by horror movie gore, it was just the fact it was her finger and looked so real.

Overall its a pretty sick film but has a decent Scream esque plot, Paris Hilton ruins it though.
