Not to be a dick, but if you can't afford a 3 bedroom house in the area, why are you even thinking of adding another child to the equation? What happens if you lose your jobs? What happens if the hubby doesn't get that promotion? Don't get me wrong - affordable housing is something our country is lacking tremendously - especially in major metropolitan areas, but still. If you can't afford the house you want, is adding another mouth to feed the answer?
 
It's true get into the house first. Do right by your child, and the one to come. Buy a house you can grow into, in nice neighborhood.
 
Actually you're in pretty good shape if you and Jason can suck wind for a few more months.Election year, there will be turnover no matter the outcome, either by promotion or by change of administration.You might want to look into bank repos and foreclosures, yes it happens to middle and upper class people too, and you might find a bargain in which the bank/finance company only wants the balance owed.Then float your loan for 30 years, owner financing is an option as well.Good luck whichever way you decide to go.
