Hotsynch problems- worth a look?

Having had lots of problems in trying to Hotsynch my Treo to my laptop ie couldn't find user, I checked my setup and found that my Trio was connected to my laptop through a USB2 hub. After connecting the USB lead straight into the laptop, all my problems disappeared and it hotsynched frantically!
Worth a look if you are having trouble and have a hub or hubs connected.

I will NEVER use a hub again. I had all sorts of OTHER problems (NOT hoytsyncing) and finally went to Wal-Mart and bought the PCI Card 4-outlet Belkin USB bay.

The NEXT DAY I went and got another one. That gave me 8 + the two I had - and that's enough. Forget about hubs and "powering them with the power supply" nonsense . . . they all STINK.

ALL SORTS of things cleared up and things are faster. Both of those silly hubs went in the trash - wouldn't give 'em to my worst enemy. That was about 4 months ago . . . and not a single problem since.

A very good call, Sir . . . and worthy of noting not only if you're having Hotsync problems . . . just a good pointer in general!!

Hi Paul,
The problem is that even new laptops only have about four USB sockets so where do we fit our USB printers, cameras, external hard and DVD-+RW drives, TV card etc.
I also have a 4 port PC USB2 card but unfortunately, every orifice is filled to capacity. Sometimes a hub is the only way out. I know that printers don't like hubs, my Treo and a printer have to share the same laptop port. But at least it now works.
