Hot Spot at HOme

Hot Spot @ Home is like having your own personal cell site(tower) in your home. 1st: You must have HIGH speed internet. 2nd you must either upgrade(for current cust) your handset or purchase a new handset to one capable of a WiFi connection. 3rd you must buy the router(free after mail in rebate). After you have done all this, then install the router to your existing HIGH speed internet connection. Sync you handset to the router(easy step) and then talk. This is how it works: The router will act as a WiFi connection to you phone(making calls clear/undropped/uninterrupted) pretty much throughout your entire home. GETS BETTER! On the @ Home plan all calls placed through the router are FREE(minutes not counted against your plan)! EVEN BETTER, if you start your call at home (goes through router), get in your car, drive to mall, pick up food and stayed on that same initial call the entire time; those minutes are FREE TOO. Even if you went from WiFi to tower to tower to tower...SWEET! And if you have MyFaves you enjoy the 5 numbers for free + the plan minutes!

Wait! They told me I didn't need their router, just wifi internet access. Even to the point that my phone can connect to the wifi @ my work and I have unlimited and all of those little t-mo hot spots at starschmucks too! =D

This is correct. TMO router is not required however it is free with rebate and optomized to work with the H@H phones for voice priority and enhanced battery life.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~actually with att (although I have no specfic knowledge) I'd be willing to bet that this is a real possbility with their desire to connect home a cell usage into one medium. If its done expect it to cost at least twice as much and require home phone service with att and possibly dsl through them as well.

Dont forget that unlike ATT, Verizon, and even Sprint LD, TMO has no presence in the "land line" market. I have read that this is a driving force behind the introduction of H@H. Now that it is out there it owuld make sense that the competition would answer in kind, but AT&T for example does not have the same motivation that TMO has in this area.

flash....

You need to be aware that the H@H price promotion ends 9/11/07. On 9/12 individual plans will be $19.99 / month instead of $9.99. If you are pretty serious about upgrading you may want to add the $9.99 plan to your account before the price increase - that will lock you in "forever" ... see this thread for more info:

***actually hotspot service at pomo price i've heard, and i'll confirm soon as ben extended to sept 25.
***also, the pearl will not be used for this service, the curve however will be available and the pearl2 should be as well.
***the purpose for using the t-mobile router s simply because it's set up to connect to the phone with a little more ease, plus it keeps the battery life lasting a little longer, it'll have voice clarity(won't sound robotic when making phone calls) and voice priority, it will give the prper bandwith to the phone, and it will support up to 5 phones on one router.
***t-mobile with this service isn't looking to replace landlines but trying to (and i quote their slogn) "stick together". they want you to be able to stay connected to the nes who matter most anywhere at anytime, and promoting the use of using your phone more without having to worry about restrictions, such as people not wanting to use their phone til the nights or weekends. and plus getting people service in places where it isn't as strong.

jonny - i am seeing similar rumors - noted below and in the upcoming phone thread....

4. T-mobile HotSpot@Home for $9.99/month. - Valid until close on September 11th, 2007 at which point it goes up to $19.99 a month. An unconfirmed report says that the promotion has been extended to September 24th/25th. While the channels all the documents we have points to no extension, we are looking into this and will let you know if the September 11th end date has changed. We would say the chance of the extension is: likely
