I want an anime that is sort of a horror anime that is as intellectual as death note, but not necessarily the same thing. Monster was good for a while but I felt that it gradually began to decline; if you know of an anime that is an upgraded version of Monster I would really like to know about it. Also, I enjoyed the Gundam SEED series, so I would also appreciate a serious anime in which the characters have a little bit more substance and strife going on instead of characters that exist for the purpose of creating awkward humor/drama and utilizing "final" moves in every episode (Examples of animes I wouldn't like are Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakkusho).
