I am a university student and I am writing a paper on the impact of "special effects" in modern day horror pics. I would really like imput on those who saw The Exorcist when it was released. Also, I would love answers from those who have seen The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Paranormal Activity (the first one) and The Last Exorcism. At least a couple of them would be great.
I first want to find out, what did you think of The Exorcism of Emily Rose? What was it's impact on you? Were you scared/disturbed for a while after the movie was finished?
What did you think of Paranormal Activity? Again, what was the impact it left on you? basically, i am curious to see whether or not The Emily Rose movie, or the Paranormal Activity movie 'freaked you out' to the point where maybe you felt umcomfortable for a couple of nights. To be clear, I am not looking for whether or not it scared you at the time, but did it have a lasting impact?
Also, I never saw The Last Exorcism, which came out this previous summer. Was it similar to either of those two movies?
Lastly, if anyone answering this saw The Exorcist, especially at the time, what was its impact? I am really looking for people who saw The Exorcist when it first came out.
I really appreciate any imput on the movies!! But i do have to request, please don't say "it sucked" or "it was awesome" because, as i have seen 3 out of 4 movies mentioned, I'm not looking for a review of the movies, but how it made you feel afterwards.
Thanks so much! Also, this is just for research and for giving me a general idea. No names are going to be in my paper. Thanx!
Forgive me, but I forgot an element to my question: I also wanted to know how were people impacted by the recent film, "Drag Me to Hell" in particular the exorcism scene (although i'm not sure if it is - it is the scene where they are all sitting around a table, and the woman's eyes go all funny, a goat starts swearing, and a guy starts dancing around in mid-air, his face contortid, and he regergitates a cat). I wanted to also know the impact that scene had on people.
Also I am not trying to offend people or upset them by stirring up bad memories. I am not being malicious and I am not forcing anyone to read my question, let alone answer. This is just to give me an idea of the arguments I am making in my paper. I basically don't want to waste my time on a weak argument.
