Has anyone experienced this?

About a few days after my fusion of L5/S1 14 months ago, I started having leg pain. The doc said it was normal and would subside. It has done nothing but get worse!! The legs in my muscles hurt so bad that I can't even function. Nothing helps - exercise, rest, heat, ice. They have tried me on several difference meRAB for Fibromyalgia and Restless Leg Syndrome. Nothing works.

I have been to a general MD, a rheumatologist, a neurologist, and had MRIs from my back doctor. No one seems to be able to come up with a reason or an answer.

If anyone has experienced this, please let me know.

I have found that both accupuncture and cal/mag/vitamin D supplements twice a day make it tolerable. I hope this helps.

I had your problem and my spine surgeon told me just for that reason, NOT to have the surgery you had, It can and does become a side effect. Go back to your surgeon for pain meRAB and an order for physcial theraphy for these compressed nerves(your OTHER disc settle after surgery and compress the nerves )The Theraphy WILL help.
Goodluck & God Bless,

I had l4-5 fusion in Nov.2006 and cervical fusion c3-4-in july 2003 and for the last couple of months I have been have horrible leg pain. Its not sciatica-its different more of a cramping pain. I have tried everything and nothing seems to help. I am on very powerful pain meRAB Fentanyl and morphine and a muscle relaxer-zanaflex so I don't imagine my doctor will give me anything else. If you find a treatment that helps I would sure like to hear about it. Good Luck and I hope you find relief soon.

Hi Sundee,
I am originally from Plano and had my surgery there two years ago-who is your doctor?
There could be a vitamin deficiency or hormonal irabalance along with the rest of your troubles.
Have you been on Lyrica? Cyrabalta? What have they tried you on?
When was your last exray? There could be a screw out of place-somrthing from the surgery.
Leg pain usually happens within a few weeks of surgery but with continued treatment should have subsided by 14 months!
I was almost pain free then develpoed scar tissue at about two years out-I stopped being as active and really screwed myself. This was not the doctors fault. He had me walking a mile at 3 weeks and PT at 5 to keep me moving (albeit SLOWLY) to keep the scar tissue from forming. My lazy butt got me here. ;)
Deep tissue massage is an option too and some insurances will cover it.
Let us know how you are doing!!!!
Blessings,
Michelle
