Horrible in the house

Ok, y'all, what is the deal with horrible service in the house!?! :flamemad: I recently got Cingular with a Nokia 6102i. It is great - everywhere but my house. And I don't have a landline, so that is important. Is there any trick to do to make it work better? Tin foil on the antenna? I tried one of those alien-looking tape with a band of metal on it things that you tape inside the phone. Did nothing. I have been to cingular several times. They always say that their signal "should be good in that area." What is the deal?? I have heard other people say other networks will work in the same home that one doesn't, but I really don't want to go through switching providers and phones all over again. :( Thanks much.
 
Cellular phones transmit on radio frequencies. Signal strength can be diminished by a number of factors, including geographic conditions (trees, mountains, hills) or some of the construction materials that may have been used in your home (steel framework, concrete block, metal siding). You're not alone here, lots of people have the same problem. In my neighborhood, most of the people on the block keep their phones in a windowsill because we're surrounded by a lot of huge oak trees, above-ground powerlines, etc.

If you're willing to invest some money to improve your indoor reception, you can check into a signal booster/repeater like what I got. As long as you have a fair signal outside, you can bring that signal inside with a repeater. Check out the following links:

Thanks much. That does make me feel better that there is a solution. A lot more pricey than I am looking for though. :confused: I'll have to consider it. Peace. - Dave
